Board and Train Program
Board and Train Program
Training a dog to walk to heel, sit, stay, recall etc takes a lot of time and consistency to achieve reliable results. The obedience training course can be done at two levels. The 6 week level for walking heel on the lead, sit stay, stand stay and down stay without getting distracted. This helps shy dogs to gain more confidence and also help the dog that has high prey drive to control their impulse. The 10 week course covers the full obedience with reliable recall in all situations, ability to sit and stay and not react to distractions, at a distance to the owner, or close by, walk to heel on and off the leash. This training needs at least an hour and half a day, every day.
We all have busy lives and sometimes we struggle to find the time to train our dogs fully. For this reason, I offer a board and train option where your dog boards with me for either the 6 or 10 weeks and I train the dog while boarding with me. After the course, there is a hand -over sessions with the owners to pass on the cues and techniques the dog has learned. You could combine it with a boarding for a holiday booking.
Whilst, not cheap, for those that value their time to do other things, this is a good option for reliable results for your dog.
All the graduates from the B&T program will get discount as regular crew members for any future stays with me.
During the board and train, the dog will be trained to obtain the important obedience skills so that it is easy for the owner to communicate with them but also they will learn how to be calm around the distractions and control their impulse. It is crucial that the owner needs to follow Return transfer protocol to maintain the skills that the dog has learnt. It requires at least 2 days intensive hand over sessions as well as in 4 weeks time check up (costs not included) .
Sit stay at a family reunion of 20!!! We received so many compliments about her behaviour and she was with us the whole of lunch at a cafe with people asking to stroke her. That is my mum in the front...she usually goes bonkers when she sees her from a way off!! Once again completely transformative for our lives with her. Thank you once again Kima, this would not have been possible two months ago. - Pip’s mom photo 3, 4
The full obedience course is a special thing. This is an intensive course with your dog to learn obedience that it knows in all situations without the need for treats. Your dog just knows what to do. When you send the dog to me, I can train the dog, but then we then need to transfer the skills to you, so you know the cues, moves etc and the dog can see how to do them with you and in it's own setting.
It is important that I do the handover at your home environment so the dog and you and your family can learn to carry on the learning in your own environment. If you live close by, then this is not a problem and can be an extra couple of sessions. If you live further afield, it will involve me travelling to your area and possibly an overnight stay. If I am doing this, then I have to cancel my usual pack walks for that day, so I have to charge a daily rate for this. I know this is costly, but it is a way of guaranteeing all that hard work does not go to waste and a good handover is important, especially after 10 weeks work!
My daily charge is £250. Depending on where you live, I may need overnight accommodation and fuel costs covered too. Before you book, let me know where you live so we can work out which additional charge is needed.
